Transitional Housing: Kairos House and St. Elizabeth's Recovery Residence
These residences provide a point of entry for adults who have experienced homelessness and who have special needs. Services include private rooms, common living spaces, group meals, 24-hour staffing, and intensive case management for all residents. The residences provide specialized programs to meet the needs of residents with behavioral health issues. Most residents also begin working on education and employment goals so they can make the transition to more independent housing and greater self-sufficiency. There are a total of 62 units in our two transitional residences:
Kairos House
Kairos House is a progressive-demand residence for men and women with a primary diagnosis of serious mental illness. The program provides 36 subsidized single room occupancy units. Residents pay 30% of their income towards rent as well as $100 per month for an on-site meal program. Kairos House is a clean and sober environment with 24 hour staff support and provision of on site case management, medication monitoring, financial management assistance, and on site groups and recreational activities. Residents maintain their personal space, participate in community chores and are encouraged to become involved in activities that promote personal growth and overall well-being.

St. Elizabeth's Recovery Residence
St. Elizabeth's Recovery Residence is a transitional housing program for homeless men with a primary diagnosis of a substance use disorder with or without a co-occurring mental illness who wish to establish recovery from their substance use issues. St. Elizabeth's consists of 24 single room occupancy units with shared living and dining areas, twelve of which are designated specifically for veterans. Residents pay 30% of their income towards rent and $100 per month for the meal program. The program operates on a level system and has 24 hour staffing. Case Managers provide on site support and referrals to community resources for drug & alcohol treatment, education, employment and physical and mental health services. The program provides the initial structure necessary for early recovery including on site groups, medication monitoring and opportunities for clean and sober recreation. Residents are encouraged to build a community support system that they can utilize upon graduation. Follow up support services are provided for at least one year in the form of telephone contact and the opportunity to attend the alumni group.
